Description of Study:
This bible study is designed for first year students. It focuses on developing bible study skills by teaching students basic principles of biblical study and hermeneutics. Each week students will learn how to understand what the passage says, what it means and how to apply it to their lives. In addition to gaining bible study experience, this study exposes them to the person of Jesus Christ through the Gospel of Mark.
Assumption: The Book of Mark is about Jesus and through it's narratives demonstrates that Jesus is the God and Savior.
Study Practices
1. Familiarize: Read the chapter over and over until you are able to summarize the details of the content
2. Group/Identify: Mark out the beginning and end of narratives/ideas. Write out and write out the reasons that support your grouping.(It's ok to double check your groupings with the pre-printed headings in your bible)
3. Connect: Explain how your groupings connect to each other(e.g. How does the first paragraph connect and relate to the second paragraph.)
4. Understand: Write out what what the purpose of each of the narrative/idea is and how it contributes to the overall message of the book.
